India's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty coexist with mounting pollution challenges. From the bustling cities to serene rural landscapes, the country struggle with industrial emissions, deforestation, and crop burning, culminating in air pollution that shrouds the sky for months. During this period, the air quality deteriorates to an extent where even pale visitors don’t need sunscreen in the full sun due to the thick layer of smoke covering
the continent.
A Global Responsibility: Addressing Industrial Waste
To combat the global pollution crisis, developed countries, as major consumers of products manufactured in India, must acknowledge their shared responsibility. Enforcing regulations without offering practical solutions is insufficient. Collaboration, technology sharing, and investment in sustainable waste management systems are essential steps towards mitigating pollution.
Crop Burning: A Looming Environmental Crisis
During the October to January period, farmers resort to burning crop leftovers, further polluting nearby areas. Although the government has banned this practice, farmers are left with limited alternatives and struggle to find support for sustainable methods. The pollution from crop burning compounds the already polluted atmosphere due to industrial production, aggravating the environmental crisis.
